Section 1: The brief

A. What was the brief?

The brief we were given, was to choose a Unilever product to re-brand to a new audience.

B. What was your chosen product and how did you decide, as a group, to choose it?
I personally chose Ben and Jerry's, to re-brand to target at an older audience. I chose to do this as Ben and Jerry's main target audience is anyone from e.g. 5-30. The decision for our group to re-brand Ben and Jerry's was made as two out of three of our group had previously chosen Ben and Jerry's as their product to re-brand according to our Unilever presentations so we all agreed it to re-brand Ben and Jerry's.

C. Who is the current Target audience for the product and who did you decide to appeal to? Why?
Ben and Jerry's current target audience is anyone from young children-young adults, with it's secondary audience being adults.
We decided to make the older generation, our primary audience by creating an advert more appealing to the older generation, unfortunately our actors were minors so this was more difficult than we'd originally planned, so we then decided that our target audience would be couples and relationships.

Section 2: The finished product feedback

A. How did you collect the feedback( comments from others) on your finished advert from your target audience? Provide a summary if the main points.
We collected feedback and comments on our advert, by creating a survey using 'SurveyMonkey', emailing it to 15 people and taking notes, during discussion after our advert was shown in class. Our teacher Ellie was also able to give us feedback of an experienced and professional level which was also very useful.
By using 'SurveyMonkey' we were able to show people our video and have people fill out the survey online, without having to find people that have a computer and the time to fill out a print based survey and wait for replies, as opposed to online surveying, in which you don't have to wait to meet people for responses. It's a much easier and quicker way to contact people, further more, with the survey being processed through an online service the results were already calculated and much easier to count and evaluate.

B. Appropriateness to audience: do you think you managed to get the main message to your target audience you specified in pre-production. Would the advert have an appropriate impact on them?

Yes, I believe we succeeded in our task to target our new audience. The main message was that Ben and Jerry's brings people together. I think that our advert plot demonstrates this as we created the idea that a couple have an argument and don't talk until after Leonie (our girl, playing the girlfriend((ME)) brings some Ben and Jerry's and gives some to Connor (our guy, playing the boyfriend). We created new flavours for the advert we created 'Jelly and ice cream', 'Rhubarb and custard', and 'Peanut butter pudding', hoping to help reach the older generations. The Majority of my results responded with a guess of the target audience being aged between 18-24.
this is younger than we'd planned, but due to our actors being 17 and 18, we realised that it probably wouldn't appeal to older generations quite as much.

C. Think about the Technical and aesthetic qualities of your advertisement. Analyse your use of : mise-en-scene; camera, editing sound.
